SFW Science Radio Hour: Episode 17

Author: Skylar Bayer

Hello world!
It’s been awhile, but I’m back to update everyone with our latest SFW Science Radio Hour podcast with Abby Norman. Abby is a writer who has been writing online for years and has recently signed on with Nation Books to write a memoir about her journey with endometriosis. I’ve been very excited reading Abby’s works, hanging out with her both in real life and on Twitter, and her dedication to studying medical information on her own for years.

Thom Young also made his debut as my co-host, covering the “this week in science” section of the show. I thought he did a pretty good job (actually much better than my attempts).

Take a listen to my interview with her (and click here if you want to listen to the whole show). I hope to have her on again in the future because we didn’t even get to talk about The X-Files!

Episode 17

Music breaks: The Gammy Bird by Christopher Young, Drops of Jupiter by Train, The Greatest by Sia (featuring Kendrick Lamar), My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit.

In other news, I am working furiously on the IMCC4 podcasts — I have SO MUCH from those interviews and that trip that it’s been hard to distill and pick what I want in a few podcasts. At this point there will probably be about four podcasts that I’ll release between October and January.

Also, Thom and I created an entry for the 2016 Dance Your Ph.D. contest last month. Winners should be announced tomorrow, but we just had a lot of fun making this video. I highly recommend doing it next year if you’re a Ph.D. student (or completed one, you don’t have to be a current student).
